On his album the Tobias Hoffmann Trio interprets classics from different genres and epochs. The guitarist calls this borderline breaking work "my standards-album". The New York bass legend Greg Cohen who wrote the liner notes for this album, sees Hoffmann as, "one of Germany‘s most creative and original voices in guitar“ Frank Schoenhofer and Etienne Nillesen are convincing as a heavy grooving and yet flexible, creative rhythmic team. Tobias' guitar playing, resides somewhere between Jazz, Blues, Surf and Noise, it whines, babbles, quotes, jubilates, caws. The trio appears to represent the bizarre notion that the Jim Hall Trio and The Cream swapped clothes, ergo Tenderly messed up!
